Dirty
Dancing – Hamburg – October 22nd 2006 (evening)
It’s funny
I’m always complaining about this show yet I still end up watching it again.
This time one of the reasons for another trip to Hamburg was the chance to see
someone else in the role of Johnny Castle.
What I have to say is that I wasn’t impressed with the show at all this time… I
mean, I never really liked it but this time some scenes were rather boring and
the whole show seemed to lack any emotion and enthusiasm.
Anyway, on to the cast….
Johnny
Castle: Peter Horemans
As I have mentioned in previous reviews I just don’t like Martin van Bentem as
Johnny Castle. So I was happy to see Peter play the part. And he did well. He
fits into the part and looked quite comfortable on stage. Still not what I would
call a „perfect“ Johnny but so far my favourite guy in the role. ;)
Baby
Houseman: Ina Trabesinger
Last time I saw her I actually liked her interpretation of the role. Butt his
time it had me sitting in my chair thinking „What is she doing???“. She was
over-acting all the way through the show and her facial expressions were just
weird. Unfortunately this made the character look like a fool. So, not impressed
with Ina this time – sorry.
Penny: Sarah
Schilke
I
really liked Rachel Marshall as Penny so I wasn’t sure if I’d be happy to see
someone else play the part. But Sarah did a really good job. I still think
Rachel’s had a little more stage presence. But Sarah looks the part, she has a
good voice and is a great dancer. I only think she needs a little more practise
to settle into the part.
Lisa
Houseman: Daniela Harbauer
Fantastic! That’s the first thing that springs to my mind when thinking about
her performance. I just love the „Wackel-Dackel“ song…. Hilarious!
Neil
Kellerman: Jörg Neubauer
No, no and no! Neil is not a fool and Neil is not a clown. But that’s what Jörg
makes of the character. And why is he making all those strange grimaces on
stage….
Robbie: Ronny
Rindler
Second time seeing him in the role and still think he suits the part.
Billy: Sören
Fahl
Another new face in the cast. He really reminded me of Ralf Schaedler on the
acting side. Very funny, very active and he managed to make the best of this
rather small part in the show.
Moe Pressmann:
Hardy Rudolz
I
just have to mention him even his part was rather small. I just love to see him
on stage. I’ve seen his own little show „Immer montags Cha Cha Cha“ this year
and really liked it. He even managed to make the „Pirate song“ bearable…. that
has to mean something. ;)
The rest of
the cast did the best they could in this rather dull show. Special mention for
Marc Seitz for another great show. „In the still of the night“ was
faultless! Adrian Hochstrasser was on – still funny to see him in this
show although I wasn’t shocked this time. When I saw him on stage in September I
was more than surprised as I didn’t know he was in the cast at all.
So, the next
show will definitely be one with Marc as Neil
